Grief & Bereavement counseling For women in portland
You Were the One Who Had It All Together.
Then everything stopped.
Now you can't think straight. Your brain feels broken. Simple things like taking a shower or deciding what to eat feel impossible. You’re not sleeping well. You have 100 things that need to be done, but you can’t find the motivation to get off the couch; this isn’t like you.
You start crying in the grocery store when you see their favorite snack. You want to be strong for your mom, your family, everyone watching, but you're barely surviving yourself.
You keep thinking, “this isn’t normal, I should be handling this better.” You're terrified you'll get stuck here and never find your way out.
You will. But you don’t have to do this alone.
Hello. I’m kathleen
I Know How Overwhelming Early Grief Can Feel.
I’ve experienced sudden and traumatic loss myself, including suicide loss. And wow, grief can hit hard and fast. I’ve felt its discombobulating, numbing effects that seemed to bring everything in my life to a screeching halt. I understand what it’s like to still need to care for a family, show up for work, and manage daily life, all while experiencing a myriad of overwhelming feelings that seem to be trying to take you down.
I work with high-achieving women navigating those early days of grief (and beyond), at a pace that works for them.
I understand you can’t stop your life to fall apart and people are counting on you. That’s why my approach is about helping you honor your grief AND show up for what needs to be done. You’ll get both space to process and strategies to keep moving.
.
Can Grief Therapy Help? Yes. Here’s how:
First, you need to know: the brain fog, the inability to make decisions, the feeling your brain has stopped functioning at the level you’re used to, this isn’t your fault. You aren’t doing this wrong. This is what early grief can look like. The good news? It’s temporary; it won’t always be this way. Together, we can help you get through it.
. You get a place to fall apart.
For 50 minutes, you don't have to be strong for anyone. You don't have to manage anyone else's emotions or worry about being too much. You can just be and feel what you need to at that moment.
. You'll get practical strategies.
Tools to navigate triggers, manage the overwhelm, and function while you're grieving. Not just insight, actual help getting through your days.
. You'll understand what's happening.
Grief therapy helps you make sense of why your brain works differently right now and why simple things feel impossible.
. You can show up for others while also grieving.
You don't have to choose between being strong for your family and processing your own grief. Therapy helps you do both (if you want to).
I see clients in-person in Portland and online throughout Oregon.
